When I went to Ritz Carlton to attend Social Media day, I just went to learn and support local businesses in Arizona. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the magnitude of the event. It was organized by Pink Media and ABC 15. According to the website, around 37 local businesses attended.
It was a fun event. I was sipping soda and making a tour on the floor of the large room of Ritz Carlton filled with the tables of local businesses. Suddenly I was tapped at my shoulder and my heart had almost stopped when I turned around to see a huge red feathery hand on my shoulder. He was a huge red cardinal. For a few moments I went back to my childhood days when you get amazed as well as feel overjoyed to see such a huge cardinal so close to you.
I stopped to talk to Desiree Ford, the owner of Pink Media LLC. It was amazing how she organized the event and made sure everything went perfect. We exchanged some ideas and decided to meet sometime later.
I made it a point to stop at most of the tables and talk to the owners to learn their stories. I enjoyed the brownie from Fairy Tale Brownies. Those were really good. I thought that it was very generous of Fairy Tale Brownies to share their cookies at the Social Media day. I learnt that it is Arizona family owned business and their company which started with a modest $14000 grew to be a company with annual sale of $8 million . Came to know about the the non-profit organization of Severson sisters who helps to build self esteem in young girls. Finally when I stopped by the table of Aloha Yogurt, I was greeted by the smiling and friendly face of the Aloha Yogurt owner. He was in the Food business for fourteen years and wanted to create something of his own. One day, the opportunity came along and Aloha Yogurt is born. Specials are announced in Aloha Yogurt Facebook page. In fact, when I looked the back of the Aloha Yogurt business card, I was given in the Social Media event, I found a special of two Yogurt at the price of one. Now, I have to make a trip to Aloha Yogurt!
